The School Board’s 2022 resolution cited “an alarming increase in the number of resignations and retirements,” rising vacancy rates, and pay compression that left experienced educators earning close to beginning teachers. The One Mill’s experience-based supplements were designed to address exactly that.

I like how we draw and I am good at drawing now because of art class.
Art in elementary school helps kids academically, socially, and emotionally… Drawing and cutting and using other art tools (that we can now afford) improves fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination… In elementary school, art isn’t ‘extra’ — it’s necessary for whole child development.
Over the last three years, we have renovated and updated the FBHS band room… We have also purchased brand new uniforms for the first time in over a decade… This year we are purchasing 15 brand new instruments… The students have benefitted enormously because of it, and future generations will be able to as well!
When we were given the millage we were able to get a complete new percussion section with all brand new instruments. The millage allowed for us to become the best percussion section MS1 has ever had.
The Art millage program has been a huge success in our schools… Not every kid is an athlete or straight A student, but through the introduction and exploration of art at school, we’ve been able to help students find their potential… Our students have said it’s their favorite activity class each week.
Millage funds opened arts opportunities for all 726 students—through more band participation and campuswide concerts and exhibits.
